Focus on moving slowly and allowing students to notice details and ask questions about the images. It's not about guessing or jumping to hypotheses! It's about wondering. (I recommend setting the Google Slides to *fullscreen* first!)

These two photos show the town of Wadi ad-Dawasir in Saudi Arabia on June 30, 2000, and April 26, 2017. This area receives about 8 inches of rain per year, so farmers pump groundwater to irrigate their crops. The water they are using is believed to be 30,000 years old. As agriculture increases, this water is being quickly depleted, leading to a tricky ⚖️ ethical problem. Read more at NASA.
