Using Gallagher and Aschner's four-level framework, let's look at how we can develop questions that make students actually think, not merely remember.

Steps

  1. First, we look at "remember" vs. "thinking" questions and categorize a list of questions.
  2. Next, we explore the first of the higher-order thinking questions: evaluative.
  3. Finally, we wrap up by looking at how to write a great divergent question.
