The actual paragraph: An earthquake is the shaking of the Earth’s surface. This shaking comes from a sudden release of energy underground that creates seismic waves. Many earthquakes are so weak that no one ever feels them. Others are so violent that they send objects flying through the air. Over time, humans have developed building techniques to prevent or reduce damage from these strong earthquakes.
