Original Paragraph The Great Sloth, also known as the Megatherium, lived long ago during the Ice Age. It was related to the sloths we know today, but it was about the size of an elephant! Like elephants and modern sloths, these enormous creatures were herbivores. Their frighteningly long claws were used for stripping leaves from trees. Scientists believe they could stand on their hind legs to reach high branches. Today, you can see their fossils in museums and marvel at the Great Sloth.
