“It's like having a second teacher in my classroom.” ~ a teacher describing Byrdseed.TV

About

Byrdseed.TV is a library of video lessons for gifted and advanced students in elementary and middle school. Gifted program leaders use it to give their teachers finished lessons that go beyond grade level.

You’re in charge of the gifted program. No one left you a manual.

Maybe the last coordinator retired and took everything she knew with her. Maybe you were asked to rebuild the program from scratch. Maybe you cover several schools, and there’s only one of you.

You can’t write lessons for every teacher. Your teachers shouldn’t have to write them either.

What teachers get

  • Lessons that are ready to use. Each video walks through a project step by step in 5 to 10 minutes. It includes examples, visuals and worksheets to print.
  • Videos made for students. Kids watch each step and then start working. Teachers can run more than one group without going back and forth between them.
  • Work above grade level. The lessons don’t teach basic skills. They give advanced students something hard to think about. Teachers guide the thinking. They don’t have to design the lessons.

Who uses Byrdseed.TV

  • Gifted coordinators who supply lessons to teachers at several schools
  • Gifted and pull-out teachers who have the same students for several years
  • Used in 1,700 school districts

Who’s behind this?

Ian Byrd

Hi, I’m Ian Byrd. I was a gifted student, and then I taught gifted students in Southern California. I’ve spoken at 211 gifted education events. For 15 years, I’ve built lessons that students can use right away, so teachers don’t have to build them.
