Byrdseed.TV has triple the membership of the national gifted association!

How Renzulli Learning compares to Byrdseed.TV

For most classroom teachers, probably not. Renzulli isn’t bad. It just solves a different problem than the one you have.

Renzulli Learning is software students log into. They take an interest profile survey, then the system points them toward independent enrichment activities they work on over time. It’s built around the idea that gifted kids should drive their own learning, picking topics that interest them and exploring at their own pace.

Byrdseed.TV is the opposite. It’s not student software. It’s a library of lessons that you, the teacher, run with your students in person. You introduce a concept, you press play, you discuss what they notice, you push their thinking.

These aren’t really competitors.

When Renzulli Learning fits

Renzulli works in schools that have built genuine independent enrichment time into the schedule. Students need real, regular blocks to log in, work on their projects, and follow their interests. The model assumes someone will check in on each project, give feedback, and keep students moving.

If your school has that structure and a coordinator to support it, Renzulli can be a strong fit. It’s often adopted school- or district-wide for that reason.

When Byrdseed.TV fits

Byrdseed.TV works for teachers who meet with gifted students and need something good to do in that time. The pull-out teacher with 30 minutes Tuesday and Thursday. The push-in teacher walking into a 5th grade math block who needs something better than the textbook. The classroom teacher with two or three advanced kids who finished their work and need real challenge.

You log in, find a lesson, press play. The video introduces the concept and walks students through the thinking. You facilitate.

It’s per-teacher, not per-student, so one membership covers every group you teach.

Can you have both?

Sure. They don’t overlap. A school could use Renzulli for independent enrichment time and Byrdseed.TV for direct teacher-led instruction. Different parts of the day, different kinds of work.

But if you’re picking one for your own classroom, choose based on the structure of your time. If you and your gifted kids are in the same room, Byrdseed.TV gives you something to actually do with them. If your gifted kids are working independently and you’re checking in periodically, Renzulli gives them something to work on.

A lot has changed since you left!
