Objective

Students will use q-tips to create a self-portrait in the style of pointillism.

This simple, inexpensive art technique will enrich students' lives by exposing them to great art and artists.

Resources

Supplies

  • Q-Tips
  • Paper plates
  • Tempera paints

Steps

  1. Complete self portrait part one
  2. Introduce students to pointillism using the Van Gogh and Seurat examples.
  3. Plan color schemes
  4. Group students by their color scheme
  5. Model painting with q-tips
  6. Students paint their backgrounds
  7. Students paint their faces
