Students will judge using criteria and determine which type of precipitation wins the tournament.
Some notes on the less well-known competitors:
- Virga - rain that evaporates before it hits earth
- Hail - is frozen to start with
- Freezing Rain - snow that melts while falling and then freezes on surfaces
- Sleet (ice pellets) - rain that freezes on the way down
- Graupel (pronounced gropple) - snow balls instead of flakes, also called "soft hail"
