Objective

Students will find the information to calculate how many times we could fill up a jet plane using the fuel that would fit in an olympic-sized pool.

Interestingly, there is no "official" volume of an olympic-sized pool! Students have to make a choice โ€“ how deep will their pool be. Likewise, they'll need to choose their own jet plane and find out the volume of its fuel tank.

Inspired by Stupid Calculations.

Steps

  1. First, students will need to figure out how much water is in an olympic-sized pool, pick a plane, and determine much fuel that plane can hold.
  2. I'll reveal how many times I could fill up my jet plane.
