Objective

Students will discern the shades of meaning for several synonyms using two methods of ranking and produce a graph.

For example, I might brainstorm synonyms for "happy": ecstatic, joyful, pleased, gleeful.

Then, I could attempt to rank "happy" and its synonyms words using two different methods:

  1. Short-term vs long-term happiness.
  2. Active vs passive happiness.

The synonym "ecstatic", for example, is quite short-term and active, while "joyful" is more long-term but passive.

The registration window closes on May 31st, 2024
