Objective

Students will research and analyze four types of natural disasters, finding at least one reason why each one is not like the others.

  • Earthquakes are the only ones that are invisible! You can’t actually see an earthquake, just its effects.
  • Tornadoes are the only ones that emit an electric field - although this doesn’t always mean lightning. (Tornadoes are also the one that'll take you to Oz!)
  • Hurricanes are the only of these disasters that are powered by water and must begin over an ocean.
  • Volcanoes are the only ones that involve molten rock and the ash from their eruptions can disrupt air travel across the world.

"I just subscribed to Byrdseed.TV and am loving it -- though it is kind of scary addictive in a binge-watching kind of way (that, by the way, is a compliment)."  ~  Elizabeth from Florida
