Paragraphs: Systems of Sentences

Objective

Students learn how sentences work together as a system form a paragraph. They'll try to re-order mixed-up paragraphs and then try their hand and writing a mixed-up paragraph that their peers can untangle.

Steps

  1. Students learn about the big idea "Paragraphs are systems of sentences." They attempt to reorder sentences from The Wizard of Oz.
  2. Students will reorder sentences about Roman Bridges.
  3. Students look for patterns for how to reorder sentences in their clues.
  4. Students create their own mixed-up sentences, building on the patterns they found in steps 1-3. They can use Paragraphy to shuffle their sentences.
