Ongoing Greek and Latin Word Part Activities

Objective

In this ongoing project, students use a list of Greek and Latin word parts to create four possible products.

This was a great, ongoing "may do" task. Everyone had to make three items, but if they wanted to, they could work on it during their choice time. Let's just say some kids really wanted to keep going.

(I actually had to break up a "spell battle" at one point!)

Steps

1. Students develop creatures called Greekymon whose features and behaviors match their name. Gotta catch 'em all!
2. Students create a Book of Spells packed with incantations made from Greek and Latin word parts.
3. Students develop a new phobia, based on their list of word parts.
4. Students develop a series of inventions based on Greek and Latin word parts.
