Annie Byrd teaches high school students with moderate to severe disabilities. She focuses on teaching greater student independence and supporting students in leading a meaningful life as well as having a high quality of life. Annie received her bachelors degree in Communication with a minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Santa Barbara, California. She received her teaching credential and Masters of Science in Special Education from California State University, Long Beach. Before teaching, she worked and dabbled with internships in the areas of public affairs, broadcasting, movie production, and event planning. She has also assisted professors in researching and publishing studies in the areas of stuttering reduction and the long and short term affects of in the ear hearing devices. Annie is inspired and supported by her family of teachers including husband, brother, mother, and father.
